Seven Common Sense Ayurvedic Ways to Keep Your Heart Healthy

Image result for beautiful american women girl
The statistics are frightening:

Heart disease is the number one killer of both men and women in the United States.
Every 20 seconds, someone in the United States has a heart attack.
One in four Americans has some form of heart disease.
Every 34 seconds someone in the United States dies of heart disease.
Heart disease takes more lives than the next seven leading causes of death combined.

Yet, both modern medicine and ayurveda concur that there are things you can do every day to keep your heart healthy. Here we offer some suggestions to get you started. Pick one or two and start with those if you like, then add a couple more every few weeks until you are naturally living a heart-healthy lifestyle. Bonus: not just your heart, but your entire physiology will thank you.
Soothe away stress

According to ayurveda, a holistic approach to heart health requires you to nourish the emotional heart as well as the physical heart. The heart is not just a pump — it's the fountainhead of all emotions, whether it's joy and exhilaration or sadness and frustration. Mental and emotional stress can disrupt the emotional heart. Practicing the Transcendental Meditation® technique twice daily has been shown in research studies to help in lowering blood pressure, reversing arterial blockage and enhancing resistance to all types of stress.

Maharishi Ayurveda herbal supplements Worry Free and Blissful Joy nourish the mind and emotions and contain herbs like Ashwagandha and Arjuna, renowned for their positive influence on the mind and emotional heart.
Cultivate the positive

While warding off excess stress is essential to prevent the emotional heart from wasting away, actively seeking mental and emotional well-being can help the emotional heart flourish. Ayurveda talks about ojas, the substance that maintains life.

The finest by-product of digestion and the master coordinator of all activities of mind and body, ojas leads to bliss, contentment, vitality and longevity. Inner strength and poise and the cultivation of positive attitudes and emotions increase ojas. Spend time every day on those activities that give you this contentment and happiness. Listen to soothing or uplifting music, enjoy serene natural beauty, practice uplifting aromatherapy and sip relaxing herbal teas. Maintain a positive attitude and walk away from situations that distress or anger you.

Eat right

Arguably the most critical step you can take towards heart health is to eat a heart-friendly diet. For a society used to fast food and eating on-the-go, this is also arguably the most difficult step to take and maintain. But there are small things you can do to make your diet more heart-healthy. Eat more servings of fresh fruits and vegetables; start your day with stewed apples or pears; include soaked blanched almonds in your diet; dress your veggies with fresh lime juice; and eat heart-friendly spices such as fresh-ground black pepper and the antioxidant power-spice turmeric.

Choose fresh foods over processed foods or leftovers; light foods over rich, deep-fried ones; and warm, cooked foods over cold, heavy foods. A balanced antioxidant Rasayana such as Amrit from Maharishi Ayurveda is excellent nutritional support, and published research confirms that Amrit helps reduce LDL cholesterol, which has been implicated in plaque build-up.
Eat mindfully

How you eat is as important for heart health (and overall health) as what you eat. Eat moderately — the ideal ayurvedic "portion" is what fits in your two cupped palms. Don't skip meals, because eating three meals at regular times each day "trains" your digestion to anticipate and digest your food.

Stimulate a sluggish digestion with ginger, salt and lime. Have lassi, made by blending one part fresh yogurt with three parts cool water, with lunch. Spike it with roasted ground cumin and fresh cilantro for flavor. Don't tax your digestion by eating late at night or eating a heavy meal at dinner.
Cleanse ama from the physiology

Arterial plaque is ama — toxic matter that builds up in your blood vessels because your physiology cannot get rid of it efficiently. Ayurveda recommends a program of internal cleansing with every change of season to help your body flush out ama.

The Elim-Tox or Elim-Tox-O herbal supplements are formulated to cleanse the fat tissue (medha) of ama. Other things you can do to clear out ama: drink lots of warm water through the day; go to bed by 10 p.m. to help the body cleanse itself during the natural purification time; eat a lighter diet high in fiber and antioxidants from fruits, vegetables, whole grains and nuts; and avoid drugs, alcohol and smoking.

Exercise moderately and regularly

You don't have to do a strenuous workout five times a week. The key is regularity. If you follow the ayurvedic principle of balaardh — exercising to half your capacity — you can exercise every single day without straining your muscles. Walking is excellent exercise for everyone and excellent therapy as well. The early morning is ideal for taking a 30-minute walk. It will not only help your heart; it will prepare you for the day by charging up your circulation and your metabolism.

Research studies have linked sleep deprivation to blood pressure problems, depression and other factors that increase the risk of heart disease. Ayurveda considers sleep just as important as diet in maintaining health. Practice good bedtime habits — favor restful, calming activities as bedtime draws near to help disconnect the mind from the senses. Keep your bedroom clear of distractions — television, computers, other work-related material. Maintain a temperature that's comfortable. Wear comfortable, organic cotton pajamas. Stay away from stimulants in the evening. Go to bed by 10 p.m. — early to bed and early to rise still work to keep you healthy and energetic through the day.

Balance the ayurvedic factors

From the ayurvedic perspective, the heart is the seat of prana (life energy), which is maintained by a delicate balance of agni (the solar energy element) and soma (the lunar energy element). Excess mental and emotional stress wastes away soma in the heart. The heart, as we said earlier, is also the seat of ojas, the substance within us that maintains life and promotes bliss and longevity. To protect and nourish the physical heart and the emotional heart, it is essential to promote both soma and ojas. Heart health is governed also by three sub-doshas: Sadhaka Pitta (emotional balance), Avalambaka Kapha (stability and strength) and Vyana Vata (blood flow and beat), which, though present everywhere in the body, has its seat in the heart.

Cardio Support nutritional supplement from Maharishi Ayurveda is formulated to balance all these ayurvedic factors. The combination of Corallium rubrum (Coral), Indian Tinospora and Sacred Lotus promotes soma. Shilajit (Mineral pitch), Zinc, Mica and Licorice promote ojas. Arjuna, Cabbage Rose, Licorice, Mica, Indian Tinospora, and Corallium rubrum (Coral) pacify Sadhaka Pitta. Avalambaka Kapha is supported by Shilajit (Mineral pitch), Guggul, Zinc, Ostrea edulis (Oyster), Turbinella rapa (Conch), Cypraea moneta (Cowrie) and Hemidesmus indicus. Vyana Vata is balanced by Guggul, Boerhavia, Mica and Licorice. In particular, there are two star health herbs in this formulation — Arjuna, renowned in ayurveda for its ability to pacify Sadhaka Pitta and to nourish both the physical and the emotional heart; and Guggul, which has been shown in research to help lower cholesterol.

"How can I unclog my arteries or clean my arteries without surgery?" And, "What are some good heart foods?"

unclog arteries

A reader asks, "How can I unclog my arteries or clean my arteries without surgery?" And, "What are some good heart foods?"
First, stop doing the things that gave you atherosclerosis in the first place. In other words, your arteries didn't become clogged just by luck or chance, and hopefully you are already aware of this. They became clogged through a series of choices. These choices cover the foods you have chosen to eat over your lifetime and the level of exercise in which you have chosen to participate. So, before we get into the strategies and therapies that can reverse atherosclerosis and unclog arteries, let's talk about stopping the clogging process in the first place.
There is a huge myth out there about what causes clogged arteries and heart disease. And the myth is a carryover from the 1980s when the big dietary enemy was fat. The entire nation, it seemed, was fleeing from fat, and at the same time running toward foods made with ridiculously large amounts of sugar. Fat was a big disease causer, doctors told us, and everybody was told to go on an extremely low-fat diet. Even the American Heart Association recommended that people at risk of heart disease or those who had already suffered a heart attack avoid practically all fat in their diet. Some people were told to go on 10 grams of fat a day or even less.
And here's the big mistake of it: all fats were lumped into the same group. So whether it was fat from fish oils or fat from beef lard, it was all considered to be the same fat, and it was all considered to be the enemy of human health. Of course today we know that the hysteria surrounding fat was just that -- nothing but poorly justified fear resulting from major mistakes by medical researchers, combined with a huge marketing push on the part of food producers who discovered that selling people sugar was a lot easier, and a lot more profitable, than selling fat.
So what does all of this have to do with stopping the clogging of your arteries? It's simple, actually. There are healthy, good fats that you must get into your diet if you wish to unclog your arteries. And today it is well known that those fats include omega-3 fatty acids, fish oils, and monounsaturated fats. Basically, the kind of fats you find in oily fish, nuts, seeds, and fruits like avocados (which is, yes, technically a fruit, not a vegetable).
The first practical thing, then, that you can do is switch from all the unhealthy fats in your diet to healthy fats. That means giving up all fried foods, because all fried fats are unhealthy fats containing alarming quantities of trans fatty acids. So give up your fried foods and switch to raw foods or baked foods. You should also give up cheap fats such as the low-cost vegetable oils found in the grocery store, and move to the more expensive fats, such as cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil. This is one of the cases where extra money goes a long way in protecting your health. Getting healthy fats from fish oils is also quite expensive.
But let's talk now about a strategy that’s absolutely free and that will protect you from plaque buildup in your arteries. And this is perhaps even more important than getting good fats into your diet. It is avoiding hydrogenated oils and any foods made with hydrogenated oils. That's because hydrogenated oils are the number one cause of heart disease and a major contributor to neurological disorders in the United States and around the world. Hydrogenated oils are, simply put, poison in the human body. They accelerate the buildup of plaque in the arteries. And as a result, they bring on heart disease far more quickly than would happen normally.
Hydrogenated oils are artificially processed oils that never appear in nature. They are created by food producers for the convenience of food producers – primarily to add shelf life and consistency to foods so that those foods not only taste great, but can sit on the shelf for months at a time without going bad.
A lot of people think they know that hydrogenated oils are bad for them and they think they avoid those oils by not eating fried foods or other more obvious items. But here is where most people go wrong on this: hydrogenated oils are found in virtually every baked or fried and sometimes even frozen food product in the grocery store. Consider this: in every grocery store there is one aisle that has all the snack crackers. You know, it has the vegetable crackers and the wheat crackers, it also has the cookies. This entire aisle is so contaminated with hydrogenated oils that it should really be called the hydrogenated oil aisle.
There is virtually no food product in this entire aisle that does not contain hydrogenated oils. You have to go way down the aisle to the unpopular section -- often it's located near the kosher foods -- to find crackers such as Wasa Crackers, which are made without hydrogenated oils and are baked, not fried (at least in the U.S.). But practically everything else on that aisle contains hydrogenated oils. That means every snack chip, every cookie, every cracker, every pastry, and every baked good, whether it's sweet or not, is made with this dietary poison.
The thing is, then, most Americans are consuming massive quantities of hydrogenated oils without even really recognizing it because they're eating potato chips, nacho chips, and all sorts of other snack foods found in the hydrogenated oil aisle. As a result, they are getting atherosclerosis, or a built up of plaque in their arteries. And over time, of course, it leads to widespread cardiovascular disease. But more importantly, it can lead to strokes, heart attacks, and the need for heart bypass surgery, which will set you back at least six figures, if not more.
This is, then, perhaps the single most important thing you can do to prevent the buildup of plaque in your arteries. Avoid eating any food product made with hydrogenated oils.
Now how do you do that? It's simple. You start reading labels. It is impossible to be healthy in modern society if you don't make a habit of reading the food labels of every food you purchase and consume. Personally, I don't touch a food unless I've read the label and it meets my criteria of not containing a certain list of ingredients known as metabolic disruptors.
You must start reading ingredient labels, and what you're looking for here is either hydrogenated vegetable oil or partially hydrogenated vegetable oil. It can also be called partially hydrogenated soybean oil or safflower oil. The name of the oil doesn't matter. What you're looking for is the word “hydrogenated” or “partially hydrogenated.” If it has either one of those words, that food is poison. It will give you cardiovascular disease. It will harm your nervous system. It will shorten your lifespan, quite frankly. You need to put it back on the shelf, and in doing that, let these food manufacturers know that they can no longer sell you poison in a pretty box and call it food.
So those are the basic strategies of what you can do to avoid increasing the buildup of plaque in your arteries.

HOW DO THE HEARTDROPS WORK?
The Heartdrops work by removing the plaque & calcium build-up from the arteries wall, through the large intestine. This results in clearing blockages and allowing normal blood & oxygen flow. Thus normalizing circulation throughout the entire body, improving blood pressure and cholesterol levels. (Please note: results may vary).
The Heartdrops have been used successfully for over 35 years, this herbal based formula has no long term side-effects and can work along with prescription drugs.

Medical trials
The 'Effect of Herbal Strauss Heartdrops in Patients with Chronic Stable Angina' was conducted on October 16, 2005. By: KGK SYNERGIZE INC. Canada. http://www.restandrepair.com/template/research/strauss/kgk-report.pdf
These trials showed that patients who have suffered from Angina, Blood Pressure, Cholesterol & Circulation conditions for years found that their conditions improved. Principal Investigator R. Petrella, M.D concluded "The results of this study suggest that treatment with Strauss Heartdrops at the minimum daily recommended dosage improved quality of life by reducing the frequency and severity of heart disease symptoms, and without adverse effects or changes in blood chemistry despite patients concurrently taking other heart medications. Treatment with Strauss Heartdrops did not induce any adverse effect in patients also taking other medications."
The results of a one year trial, Conducted by Hedron Analytical Inc. are dramatic;  Dr Paul Hornby, PhD. led the study to determine the efficacy and safety of Strauss Heartdrops. http://www.thepowerhour.com/news2/HD%20HEDRONSTUDY%200410-06.pdf
Dr. Paul Hornby concluded "Strauss Heartdrops are a safe and efficacious supplement for people at increased risk for heart disease.

Ingredients:

Garlic (bulb), Crateagus laevigata, Mistletoe, (leaf) (stem), Motherwort (aerial), Cayenne pepper (fruit), Crateagus laevigata (leaf) (flower), Bilberry (leaf), White Willow (bark), Water, Alcohol.
Strauss Heartdrops contain garlic which is a proven antioxidant and proven to lower LDL cholesterol levels. The properties of garlic have been proven to stimulate cell growth and activity.  It has the ability to lower cholesterol by dissolving it in the blood stream in return opening blood vessels and reducing chances of a heart attack. This also reduces blood pressure.  Garlic is known as nature's antibiotic and it is one of Strauss Heartdrops most effective ingredients in preventing disease and heart problems.
Another ingredient in Strauss Heartdrops is Crateagus laevigata.  Crateagus laevigata is known to strengthen the muscles in the heart when used regularly.  It has been known to prevent arteriosclerosis and repair conditions like heart valve defects, enlarged heart, angina, feeble heart action, lack of oxygen in the blood, and more.
Cayenne is known to fight disease and assist with blood circulation.  In addition, it increases the actions in the heart without impacting blood pressure.  It is also said that cayenne is known to prevent strokes and heart attacks.  When used it is known to be a catalyst by taking all of the herbs quickly to the body parts where needed most.
Bilberry is known to improve circulation.  They feed the capillaries because bilberry has the ability to alter how food and nourishment passes through the blood.  Things in the body that benefit from the use of bilberry and are strengthened include coronary arteries and varicose veins.  Blood clots can be reduced also because bilberry has blood thinning properties.

CAN I TAKE THE HEARTDROPS WITH MY CURRENT MEDICATION??Yes! Allow 30 minutes between taking different herbal and/or prescription medication.  In the 35 years that Strauss Heartdrops have been on the open market, worldwide, there has never been a negative interaction with any prescription or non-prescription medication. When a customer is taking medications we recommend that they take the Strauss Heartdrops either 30 minutes before taking their medication or 30 minutes after taking their medication. Most of our customers to start with take 20 drops (1/8 teaspoon = 1 ml x 3 times a day, (morning, afternoon and before bedtime) preferably on an empty stomach. Strauss Heartdrops and other herbal blends are not prescription drugs.  Each individual must experiment, to find how much they need to take for their body type, it is better to take more than not enough.  If you are still "not yourself" after 30 days, double up the amount and again in 30 days if you feel it is necessary.  You should not need to exceed 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) or 80 drops 3 times daily.

How to take:
Please shake your bottle of Strauss Heartdrops first, then place drops under your tongue for one minute and swallow.

Treatment Time:
For most people: Strauss recommend taking the Strauss Heartdrops for a period of 12 months. Results are usually apparent as early as 4-6 weeks, you first may notice increased energy level, warmer hands and feet, fading of varicose veins, and if applicable, noticeable relief of angina pain.

For those seeking stronger supporting benefits:
Strauss recommends an initial cleanse of 12 - 18 months, and then a maintenance dosage indefinitely. For people who have undergone ANY surgery to the circulatory system: Strauss recommend an initial cleanse of 12 - 18 months at full dosage, then reduce to a maintenance does indefinitely. 7 Simple Ways to Unclog Your Arteries Naturally

7 Simple Ways to Unclog Your Arteries Naturally
Statistically, atherosclerosis (the progressive clogging of the arteries) is the #1 killer on the planet.  A complex process, involving autoimmunity, infection, dietary incompatibilities, and many known and unknown factors, it is – despite conventional medical opinion – entirely preventable, and in some cases reversible.
Here is the peer-reviewed, published research proving the fact:
  • B Vitamins – yes, something as simple as adding a source of B-complex to your regimen can prevent the juggernaut of heart disease from taking your life prematurely. A doubled-blind, randomized study, published in 2005, in the journal Atherosclerosis found that a simple intervention using 2.5 mg folic acid, 25 mg Vitamin B6, and 0.5mg Vitamin B12 for 1 year, resulted in significant reductions in arterial thickness (as measured by intima media thickeness).[1] Even niacin[2]-[3]or folic acid[ alone has been show to have this effect in patients. [Note: Always opt for natural sources of the B-group vitamins, including probiotic supplementation (which produce the entire complement for you), or a whole food extract, versus synthetic or semi-synthetic vitamins which, sadly, predominate on the market today].
  • Garlic – as we have documented extensively previously, garlic can save your life. It has been found to regress plaque buildup in the arteries, among many other potentially life-saving health benefits.[6]
  • Pomegranate – this super healing fruit has been found to regress plaque buildup in the arteries,[7]-[8] as well as being demonstrated to provide dozens of validated health benefits, including replacing the function of the mammalian ovary!
  • Fermented CabbageKimchi, a Korean recipe, which includes fermented cabbage, hot pepper, and various other ingredients, including fermented fish, appears to stall the atherosclerotic process in the animal model.[9] Additionally, strains of good bacteria in kimchi have been found capable of degrading toxic chemicals that can additional bodily harm.
  • L-Arginine: This amino acid is capable of preventing arterial thickening – up to 24% reduction! -- in the animal model.[10]-[11]We have done an extensive literature review on arginine supplementation and have found that in over 30 studies demonstrating this fact addition to 150 known health benefits, it is capable of addressing the underlying dysfunction associated with cardiovascular disease: endothelial dysfunction, with no less than 20 studies proving this fact.
  • Turmeric (curcumin): the primary polyphenol in the Indian spice turmeric known as curcumin has been found to be an excellent cardioprotective, with over 30 studies demonstrating this fact. One study found that curcumin prevented damage to the arteries associated with blockage (neointima formation).[12]
  • Sesame Seed: probably one of the most underappreciated super foods on the planet, sesame seed, which we have shown is as effective as Tylenol for arthritic pain, may be an excellent cardioprotective substance, ideally suited for preventing the progression of atherosclerosis. One animal study found it was capable of preventing atherosclerosis lesion formation.[13]
This is a small sample of evidence-based natural interventions for cardiovascular disease prevention and/or regression. We have a much larger set of studies on over 200 natural substances capable of reducing the risk of heart attack and related heart disease related conditions.
Remember, heart disease is not a natural process, that we must accept as inevitable based on family history of an outdated gene-based model of human disease risk. Our daily decisions, especially regarding what we decide we are going to eat or do not eat, are first and foremost. We can use food as medicine, sloughing off the pharmaceutical industry meme that we need statins to stave off the 'inevitable.' Take back control of your health with nutrition, and realize that food is the only medicine that will both nourish us and heal our bodies in a way that will produce lasting health.

Home Remedies for Clogged Arteries

Image result for healthy heart couple
Clogged arteries refers to a condition in which deposits of fatty plaque within an artery leading to the heart or brain restricts blood flow. Due to this, the blood carrying oxygen and nutrients cannot reach different body organs and tissues, potentially causing huge damage and preventing organs from functioning properly.
This is a serious condition that is not easily detectable. The exact cause behind clogged arteries is still unclear. However, experts believe it starts with damage or injury to the inner layer of an artery.
Factors that may contribute to or worsen this problem include excessive smoking, a high-fat diet, lack of physical exercise, being overweight, having either Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. It can also occur due to inflammation from diseases like arthritis, lupus or infections.
Clogged arteries in different parts of the body can lead to health problems like coronary artery disease, carotid artery disease, peripheral artery disease and even a heart attack or stroke.
Most often, clogged arteries do not cause any symptoms until the problem becomes severe. Symptoms may include chest pain (angina), shortness of breath, heart palpitations, weakness, dizziness, loss of appetite, anxiety, nausea and sweating.
Other symptoms related to clogged arteries in different types of artery disease are leg pain, cold feet, numbness on one side of your body, inability to move an arm or a leg, and loss of vision on one side only.
As clogged arteries develop slowly and progressively, timely diagnosis is very important. Modern drugs and treatments as well as home remedies can help prevent the condition from worsening and reduce the risk of a serious cardiovascular disease.
Here are the top 10 home remedies for clogged arteries.

1. Garlic

Garlic is one of the best remedies for clogged arteries. It helps widen blood vessels and improve blood circulation.
According to a 2007 study done at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, garlic can help relax blood vessels by up to 72 percent more than a placebo. Moreover, garlic lowers bad cholesterol levels and reduces the risk of heart attacks or strokes.
  • dd 3 chopped garlic cloves to a cup of milk and boil it. Allow it to cool and drink it daily before going to bed.
  • Also, include garlic in your cooking or take garlic supplements after consulting your doctor.

2. Turmeric

Turmeric is another spice that can help treat clogged arteries and make your heart healthy and more functional. Curcumin, the main component of turmeric, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that help prevent blood platelets from forming clots.
Moreover, turmeric extracts can lower the level of low-density lipoproteins (LDL), or ‘bad’ cholesterol,to reduce buildup in the arteries. It can also relax blood vessels and reduce the risk of a heart attack or stroke.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder and a little honey to a glass of warm milk. Drink it 1 or 2 times daily.
  • Take turmeric supplements. The usual recommended dosage is 400 to 600 mg 3 times daily. However, consult a doctor before taking any supplements.
  • Also, include turmeric powder in your cooking.

3. Cayenne Pepper

The compound capsaicin present in cayenne pepper prevents bad cholesterol, or LDL, oxidation. This in turn reduces bad cholesterol levels in the blood, which is one of the main reasons behind clogged arteries. It also improves blood circulation and reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke.
  • Add ½ to1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to a cup of hot water. Drink it 2 times daily for a few weeks.
  • You can also take cayenne supplements, but only after consulting your doctor.

4. Lemon

Lemon is high in vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that helps improve blood pressure and reduce inflammation of the arteries. Plus, lemon helps lower blood cholesterol levels and keep arteries clear by preventing oxidative damage in the blood stream.
  • Mix the juice of 1 lemon in a glass of warm water, along with a little honey and black pepper powder. Drink it 1 or 2 times daily for a few weeks.
  • Alternatively, boil 1 tablespoon of lemon peels in 4 cups of water for 20 minutes. Strain and add honey. Drink 1 cup, 3 or 4 times daily for several weeks.

5. Ginger

Ginger is another effective remedy for clogged arteries. It contains compounds like gingerols and shogaols that have cardiovascular benefits. Ginger prevents plaque buildup or lessens existing plaque by lowering total cholesterol and blocking oxidation of LDL.
  • Drink 2 to 3 cups of ginger tea daily. Make the tea by adding 1 teaspoon of grated ginger to a cup of hot water. Let it steep for 5 minutes, strain and add a little honey.
  • Alternatively, eat a small piece of raw ginger on an empty stomach daily or take ginger capsules after consulting your doctor.
Note: Do not use ginger remedies if ginger causes gastric upset or heartburn, or you have gallbladder problems or gallstones.

6. Fenugreek Seeds

You can also use fenugreek seeds to treat clogged arteries. These seeds have saponins that can help reduce the level of the artery-clogging LDL cholesterol. Moreover, the high amount of fiber in fenugreek seeds plays a key role in reducing bad cholesterol levels.
  • Soak 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in water overnight. The next morning, eat the soaked seeds along with the water on an empty stomach.
  • Another option is to add 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds to 1 cup of water. Boil it for 5 minutes, strain and add a little honey. Drink it 1 or 2 times daily.
Follow either of these remedies daily for several months.

7. Red Yeast Rice

red yeast rice
Red yeast rice can also help unclog arteries as well as reduce the risk of having a heart attack. It has natural monacolins that can lower the level of LDL cholesterol.
Moreover, it has phytosterols, beta-sitosterol, campesterol, stigmasterol, isoflavones and many trace minerals that are good for overall cardiovascular health.
  • You can cook and eat red yeast rice like any other white or brown rice.
  • Another option is to take red yeast rice tablets in 1,200 mg doses 2 times per day with meals. Always consult your doctor for the proper dosage and appropriateness for your condition.

8. Flaxseed

flaxseeds
Flaxseeds are one of the best sources of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) that can help reduce blood pressure and inflammation. This in turn helps keep arteries clear of obstructions and improves overall heart health. In addition, the fiber in flaxseeds binds with LDL cholesterol and helps clear clogged arteries.
Consume 2 to 4 tablespoons of ground flaxseeds daily to help clear clogged arteries. Add 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseeds in smoothies, soups and juices. You can also sprinkle ground flaxseeds in salads or baked goods.

The Need for L-Citrulline!: Natural Remedy for Heart Disease

 L-Citrulline
What’s a picture of a watermelon have to do with L-citrulline? I’ll answer that in a little bit. Let’s first start with nitric oxide and L-arginine.
So much of the buzz about improved nitric oxide production centers on L-arginine. Unfortunately, many forget about L-citrulline. While L-arginine is the main amino acid used by the endothelial cells to create nitric oxide, some feel that L-citrulline is actually more important for long term nitric oxide production and improved cardiovascular health.
I bring this to your attention because I’m in the process of developing an educational module designed to help those with sickle cell anemia. One complication for those who have sickle cell anemia is the negative effects of the enzyme arginase.
Arginase is an enzyme located primarily in the liver. It is used to help complete the fifth and final step in the urea cycle. This urea cycle helps your body dispose of harmful ammonia. It is also found in the kidneys and prostate. Some research indicates that arginase is located in the mitochondria of most cells. The mitochondria are the portions of your cells that produce the bulk of your energy.

Arginase and Circulation!

While arginase has a useful role in the body it can also play a negative role in circulation. Why? Because arginase destroys L-arginine. Your endothelial cells convert the amino acid L-arginine to nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is the master signaling molecule of your cardiovascular system. It regulates blood pressure, helps to improve blood flow, keeps blood platelet cells from sticking together, prevents LDL cholesterol from adhering to the vascular walls and is a factor in a host of other very important health issues.
Everyone carries arginase in their bloodstream which can have some affect on lowering nitric oxide production. This is a bigger problem in the African American community especially for those with sickle cell disease. Thankfully, your body has an alternative pathway that enables the endothelial cells to create nitric oxide. It’s through the amino acid L-citrulline.

How Important is L-citrulline?

Well, let me introduce you to Dr. Louis J. Ignarro to answer that question. Dr. Ignarro is the 1998 Nobel Laureate in Medicine. He, and two other American researchers, were awarded the Nobel Prize for their discovery of how the endothelial cells create nitric oxide (NO) from the essential amino acid L-arginine. In Dr. Ignarro’s book, NO More Heart Disease, he makes the following statement:

My research shows that if you take only L-arginine, which is the dominant producer of NO, you will not receive the maximum benefit. I have found that by including the synergistic partner L-citrulline, your ability to boost NO production is greatly enhanced over the effects of L-arginine alone.”

Your endothelial cells use an alternative pathway to convert L-citrulline to nitric oxide. This helps bypass the arginase enzyme so that good nitric oxide production can be restored. Plus, L-citrulline provides a 24 to 36 hour window for enhanced nitric oxide production whereas L-arginine by itself usually only has a 30 minute to 2 hour window of enhanced nitric oxide production.
This means that L-arginine can help start the process of nitric oxide production to improve circulation. Then the L-citrulline can take over to continue the improved nitric oxide production helping to maintain improved circulation.
Dr. Ignarro goes on to say, “Any supplement program that does not contain L-citrulline and antioxidants to augment the L-arginine – and most on the market do not – is missing out on a major piece of the potential of NO to improve your cardiovascular health.” This statement and the information I shared so far leads to two important questions:

What foods contain L-arginine and L-citrulline?

Is it better to get these critical amino acids through food or supplementation?

I’m preparing two new videos to help answers these questions and to visibly show you the best and most effective method for enhanced nitric oxide production. But the first question brings me back to the picture of the watermelon.

The Watermelon!

In March of 2007 there was a study published in the Journal of Nutrition. The article was entitled “Watermelon consumption increases plasma arginine concentrations in adults.” This article created a significant buzz on the internet because L-arginine is needed to produce nitric oxide which is needed for a male erection. In the media, watermelon became the new and natural Viagra. While this study didn’t examine the effects on male anatomy it did provide some very important information confirming the body’s ability to convert L-citrulline to L-arginine to improve nitric oxide production.
The study subjects were given either 780 grams (equivalent of 1 g of citrulline) of watermelon or 1560 grams (equivalent of 2 g of citrulline) of watermelon. The study lasted three weeks. At the end of the study the 780 grams of watermelon group saw a 12% increase in fasting plasma arginine concentrations. The 1560 grams of watermelon group saw a 22% increase when compared to a control group that received no watermelon.
This clearly shows that your body has an alternative pathway for creating the necessary L-arginine from the amino acid L-citrulline.

So, is eating watermelon an effective way to improve nitric oxide production?

Well, the 780 grams of watermelon is equal to 1.72 pounds. The 1560 grams of watermelon is equal to 3.43 pounds. That’s a lot of watermelon to eat even if you like it. Plus, it includes the rind, that thick green outer covering of the watermelon.

Clear Up Clogged Arteries & Eliminate Bad Cholesterol With This Natural Remedy

heart_attack_large

Knowing that the biggest problem with garlic is its odor, note that in this recipe, mixed with lime and water, its unpleasant odor is almost completely neutralized.
Here it is:
Ingredients:
– 4 larger whole heads of garlic (40 cloves)
– 4 lemons with peel
– A smaller ginger root (3-4 cm) or two tablespoons of powdered ginger
– 2 liters of water

Preparation:
Wash the lemon and cut it into pieces. If the lemon is not organic or if it has been sprayed wash it with a solution of vinegar and water. Peel the garlic and put it in the blender together with the lemon and the ginger.
Blend them all good to get a homogenous mass. Thus blended mixture, add in a metal bowl, pour 2 liters of water and heat all together with stirring up to the boiling point. Immediately before the boiling point remove it from heat and let the mixture cool off. Strain and store in glass bottles.
Drink this beverage every day, take a glass (200ml)  at least 2 hours before meals or on an empty stomach. (If you do not mind, you can skip the straining and drink the entire mixture thick).
The combination of lemon, water and cooking will neutralize the smell of garlic. Before each consumption you must shake the bottle with the mixture to mix the lemon and garlic in the bottom with the juice. From experience we can say that the drink is excellent for older people too and that it restores energy and strength and rejuvenates them because after a few weeks it improves their circulation.
